Let us briefly introduce the OIG
Our history goes back to our initial establishment in July 2000 during the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor. After restoration of independence in May 2002, the OIG was included within the Office of the Prime Minister. The OIG is mandated to ensure that the public administration delivers its services efficiently and effectively in a transparent and accountable manner.
The objective of this website is to create greater awareness about the OIG, its functions and activities. The "About Us" Section details our mission, mandate and history. Information on our activities, reports, publications and staff may be found on the respective links. A section for Frequently Asked Questions is also available.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the World Bank, CIDA (for their support in staff capacity building and other activities through a special project managed by the UNDP), USAID (for their support in organizing previous anti-corruption campaigns in the districts), AUSAID (for their support during the study tour to Australia), the government of Portugal, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand and Brazil (for their support during official visits in the respective countries), and all institutions which have directly or indirectly supported our activities.
It gives us great pleasure to announce the establishment of the OIG's connection to the world wide web. We hope this website will promote awareness of and encourage co-operation with the OIG to ensure transparency and best practice within the government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. With the highest consideration from the OIG, this electronic link will better serve the interests of Timor-Leste and fellow Timorese.
